shastacounty.recovers.org Shutting Down
posted over 2 years ago by AlannaYoung from Carr Fire Volunteers
The small group of volunteers at shastacounty.recovers.org have decided our efforts will have broader effect if we join with other local groups. We will maintain our calendar and Facebook page for the foreseeable future. If that changes, we will post an update on those sites. Please check out the following resources to address ongoing needs and desire to help:
Northern California 211, maintained by the United Way
Carr Fire Recovery, maintained by Shasta County & City of Redding
You may also find direct assistance from the independent agencies we have been working closely with:
Care for Shasta (Facebook or 707-362-4476) offers free custom care packages specific to each family and/or individuals needs.
North State Doula Program (website, Facebook, or 303-845-0630) has been providing items for moms, babies, and children under 5, in addition to their usual doula services.
Drive Forward (Facebook) is updated throughout the day with useful Carr Fire information. They were instrumental in organizing the relief centers in Ono and French Gulch.
If you are looking to donate: Most agencies long ago stopped accepting used clothing donations, but many are still accepting other items such as blankets, pet supplies, unopened underwear, baby items. Check out our calendar for donation drives and fundraisers. If you want to donate furniture, try Carr Furnishings (1419 Yuba St, Redding, 530-410-5845, Facebook page). Open Tuesdays & Thursdays 8am-2:30pm, and Saturdays 10am-3pm, and appointments by necessity.
If you need furniture, see Carr Furnishings, above, and take valid ID & proof of loss.
Thank you for offering to help your community, and reaching out when you were in need. We have been honored to help connect needs with resources where possible. If you think we might be of further assistance, please let us know and we’ll do what we can.
All the best,
Alanna and Lynn, and the Shasta County Recovers team
