Extra curbside waste allowance for re-populated areas

This update is over 30 days old.

Waste Management will resume curbside waste collection operations on the next regularly scheduled collection day for re-populated areas within unincorporated Shasta County and the City of Shasta Lake.

In order to help deal with food spoilage occurring during evacuation periods, they will collect up to 96 gallons of additional waste (in excess of the residence’s normal waste collection cart) for FREE on the first regularly scheduled collection day. Residents in previously evacuated areas whose normal waste collection bins are full are directed to bag the additional wastes and place it next to their waste cart when they set it out for collection. The additional waste is limited to perishable items that spoiled during evacuation periods.

Disaster recovery is often measured in months and years, and the community support agencies including volunteer organizations will continue to provide hope, comfort, and support to residents affected by the Carr Fire.
