Free wildfire kits
posted 8 months ago by AlannaYoung from Carr Fire Volunteers
The American Red Cross is providing wildfire kits to residents who suffered damage to their home from the Carr Fire. Wildfire kits help residents clean up ash, slurry, smoke, spoiled food and other damage to their homes caused by the fire. Wildfire kits include sifters, bucket or tub, shovel, bags, tarp, masks, personal care items such as eye drops, lip balm, and throat lozenges, etc.
Volunteer organizations have partnered with the American Red Cross to distribute wildfire kits and recovery information to residents whose homes were damaged or destroyed. Wildfire kits will be limited to one per residence and based on availability. Kits will be provided to residents who suffered damage or whose home was destroyed by the fire.
Kits will be available beginning today at re-entry points during repopulation of areas damaged by the fire and at the Local Assistance Center – Shasta High School 2500 Eureka Way, Redding, CA, August 2--8th.
Disaster recovery is often measured in months and years, and the community support agencies including volunteer organizations will continue to provide hope, comfort, and support to residents affected by the Carr Fire.
